Two ads have given hope yesterday, supporters of the Treaty of Lisbon. On the one hand, the Czech Constitutional Court gave its green light to this text, opening, after months of blocking the way for its ratification by both Houses of Parliament against the advice of the very eurosceptic President Vaclav Klaus. "The Treaty of Lisbon [...] does not contradict the constitutional order," said President of the Constitutional Court, Pavel Rychetský. The parliamentary vote should be a mere formality, given the forces in both chambers. On the other hand, a subcommittee of the Irish Parliament has concluded that there was no legal obstacle to a second referendum on the text that a majority of Irish people had rejected on June 12 last, plunging the EU into a serious institutional crisis.
